Overview Our Vision. Our learners will be able to access and use information from a variety of sources, voice their ideas and concerns, act independently and continue learning in an ever-changing world. Our Mission. To provide for the education and employment related needs of limited English proficient adults who live and work in Arlington. Since its inception in 1975, REEP has helped more than 90,000 adult English language learners from more than 90 countries. Our students come to us with the general goal of improving English in order to adjust to American society, but our services impact their lives as learners, citizens, family members, and workers. Our Students Our students are remarkable people. Many have overcome tremendous hardships to get here. They view coming to the United States and learning English as a way of improving their lives. Most of our students work at least one full-time job or several part-time jobs, have families, and still find the time and motivation to study English. Despite these obstacles, and hopefully because of something we’re doing right, 85% of our students complete their 12-week term. Are you interested in working with a fun, diverse and very appreciative group of adults? If so, the Arlington Education and Employment Program (REEP) is seeking English as a Second Language (ESL) substitute teachers. We offer adult learners free ESL classes out of three community centers in Arlington, VA. Volunteers plan and teach about 1-3 classes per month. We ask for a commitment of 6 months. Classes are Monday through Thursday in the mornings and evenings. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for those that have demanding work schedules. Training, teaching resources, and ongoing support are provided. No previous teaching experience is needed.
