School Nutrition Manager (190 Day)

The School Nutrition Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the food and nutrition program in an individual school under the direction and guidance of the Director of Culinary.

Compensation Range: $28,028 $39,387* Salary is commensurate with experience and grade band. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Retirement: TRS

Work Days: 190 Reports to: Director of School Nutrition

Education: ServSafe Certified - required; 150 Hours of TID courses within first 3 years - required

• Successful experience managing a school nutrition program
• Previous food preparation and food service experience

Physical Activity:

• Ability to repetitively lift items weighing a maximum of 50 pounds
• Walk and stand on cement floor for an extended period of time
• Climb ladder, stoop, bend, lift and have hands in water
• Ability to work extended periods in various temperatures
• Ability to tolerate work conditions while cooking, steaming, baking, etc.
• Ability to tolerate a noisy work environment
• Operate kitchen equipment
• Must be able to work onsite

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with students, teachers, and administrators
• Works with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed
• Previous food preparation and food service experience preferred
• Exhibits genuine concern for all students
• Manages time efficiently
• Proficient in Office, Newton POS, and AS400 Time Clock

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently
2. Exhibits a professional attitude, demeanor, appearance, and respect at all times in dealing with the School Board, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public
3. Assists in ensuring compliance of the school nutrition program with Federal and State regulations, State and local health requirements. Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) Code of Ethics, and school system policies
4. Participates in appropriate training, workshops and staff development activities and apply what is learned to the job; accepts new challenges in a professional manner
5. Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for the assigned school cafeteria
6. Supervises food production and service to ensure meals served meet all federal and state regulations, are nutritionally adequate, and high quality
7. Monitors all aspects of the HACCP program
8. Prepares all SNP reports, reviews and approves monthly meal count records and submits to school nutrition secretary for federal claim
9. Monitors conformity to the central menu
10. Trains employees to follow recipes and standard operating procedures
11. Recommends recipe adjustments for customer satisfaction, kitchen efficiency, and accurate production methods to the Director of Culinary Services
12. Performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision
13. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and materials
14. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.
